Hugo: seeing the light

Hugo has now been hospital for 3 weeks (half of his life) and our lives have been turned upside down.

He is doing remarkably well and we have had confirmation that the infection levels in his blood are now within normal limits. His legs are no longer swollen and he has become a happy smiling baby.

The other two boys have been so brave, I really am very proud of them. It can’t be easy for them to have such disruption in their lives and carry on as normal but somehow they have done it. Although I must admit Kyle’s homework has been a little late recently (we still did it though!!) and we did miss one swimming lesson.

We are now half way through Hugo’s treatment for his infection and can start to see a light at the end of the tunnel. It won’t be long now until he is home, but I think I might hide him away from everyone until his full course of meds has been completed.

But then of course there will be other bumps along the long and winding road that is life.

It has been identified that Hugo has a swollen Kidney, which could be down to the amount of medicines etc he has been having OR it could be something totally different. He will have further tests once all medicines have been stopped for this and further immune system tests to make sure that everything is functioning properly.

Who knows what these tests will bring, but I know that as a family we will continue to take it all in our stride and continue to love and support each other.
